Network Neutrality

Yo,

This may be a old issue for yall, but after reading FactoryCity which is Chris Messina’s blog. he mentioned Network Neutrality which led me to the article from the Washington Post.

I was reading where AT&T and other large Telecomm Companys were complaining about companys who free ride off there fibre. WTF? Free Ride?
Lets stop and think for a minute. To be connected to the internet you have to have an connection, to have a connection you have to pay money. For companies like Google and Yahoo, they pay LOTS of money for there connections, They have fibre leading to there data centres (which again costs money) or they use places like equinix (which is carrier neutral, no favorite provider just a list of them available) which matter of fact looking at the Customer List for Equinix; Google AOL Yahoo Adobe Paypal among others use them and oh by the way WashPost does too. AT&T is also one of the providers they can choose from along with Verizon and other major telecomm companies.

HOW MUCH are they getting to provide bandwidth?? ALOT! They say that they get little to no money when they offer new matierals that use alot of bandwidth. Why is this? The companies paided for an Unmetred line… UNMETRED which means NOT METRED. They (The websites) do not get charged for more traffic, they pay for that ability.

Most of us would feel very hurt and riot if the goverment allows this to happen (the limiting), It is against our freedom of speech and press..man..
