31 August 2006 at 12:00pm marked an end of an era at the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library, are so I have been told.
Today was my last day of employment with the library, and what a day it was. After two years, two difficult years for the library. During the time i have been at the library, there have been five different supervisors in my department (Stacks-Requests). We have lost a huge amount of staff and only rehired half of the amount we lost. We have lost tasks and gained more then we have lost. BUT! That is not my problem anymore.
As of 31 August 2006 at 12:00pm, I am no longer and employee of the Government of Erie County. I no longer have to worry about being fired because of budgets, worried about others losing there job, and all of the politics of being a g-man.
At least until next week. On 6 September 2006, I start my work study at ECC. Since Community Colleges are partial paid for by local counties, therefore my work study is paid partial by the county. WILL I EVER GET AWAY FROM THE GOVERNMENT (damn!)
Anyways, I am off to sleep land, or whatever land. I am not entirely sure about that yet.
Peace
Josh
